This page contains all of the backstage and insider information in GCW history. Notable and controversial events will be discussed on this page.

1 The Butcher Refuses to Lose

Abdullah The Butcher was involved in a hot angle with "Bullet" Bob Armstrong and Brad Armstrong that was set to culminate after 3 months of buildup in a No-DQ match between he and Brad Armstrong. The planned outcome of the match was to have Brad go over with help from his father who was temporarily "injured" by Abdullah the month before. Upon hearing the finish, Abdullah flat out refused to go along with it. Abdullah claimed that not only would losing this type of match hurt his credibility worldwide but also that Brad had not earned the right to pin him under any circumstances, let alone a No-DQ match. Outraged, Abdullah demanded his payday before leaving the arena never to return for his match later that night. Howard Beauchamp has refused to ever do business with The Butcher again.

2 Howard Beauchamp steps down

Throughout 1986, WWA Promoter Howard Beauchamp set his sights on national expansion. Seeing wrestling from the east coast of America, namely GCW, expanding beyond their territory into others, Beauchamp sought to do the same with WWA, bringing the west coast brand of wrestling he promotes into other regions. The ball was rolling and television was being picked up further and further east. However, Beauchamp was not minding his spending nor was he investing money into correct divisions of business to sustain his expenses. A television executive picked up on WWA's financial woes and seeing the market for pro wrestling expanding across the country, he made an offer to Beauchamp he couldn't refuse. Following a series of television tapings in July '86, Beauchamp was bought out by the television executive, therefore forfeiting 100% of the company and decisions. The immediate positive to all of this is nationwide television but the drawback could come in the way of talent fluctuation as some guys who would be considered "Beauchamp guys" may be considering a future elsewhere, whether they like it or not.
